The Female Psychedelic Brain: Understanding Women’s Biology in Psychedelic Therapy

Developed by researchers from King’s College London – made for women

Tuesay evenings starting March 24, 2026. 6-8pm UK time

Female biology has long been overlooked in health and neuroscience research, and the psychedelic field is no exception. While psychedelics show promise for treating a range of mental and physical health conditions, the unique ways they interact with the female body remain understudied.

This 8-week live course presents Hysteica’s comprehensive research on the current literature and state of the field, in order to change that. Across eight live interactive modules, you’ll explore the intersections of female hormonal systems, neurotransmitters, and psychosocial factors, uncovering how women’s biology shapes psychedelic experiences, and how psychedelics, in turn, influence the female brain, body, and mind.

What you’ll gain:

  • Evidence-based insight into ovarian hormone fluctuations and their impact on the brain and behavior throughout the female reproductive lifespan
  • Understanding of psychosocial and trauma-related factors influencing women’s mental health
  • Grounding in the history of women’s exclusion from biomedical, pharmacological, and psychological research, as well as an overview of current research initiatives aiming to change that
  • Practical knowledge for informed approaches to psychedelic-assisted therapies for women at different stages of the reproductive lifespan, including the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and menopause
  • Access to live discussions, Q&A, and weekly guest expert perspectives

Who this course is for:

  • Psychedelic practitioners and facilitators seeking to deepen their support for clients in female bodies
  • Researchers and students in psychology, neuroscience, or related fields aiming to create inclusive research protocols for women
  • Women and psychonauts seeking a rigorous understanding of psychedelics and female biology
  • Anyone seeking a community learning environment to explore these topics with like minded people
  • Note: this course is for everyone, not just females or those identifying as women

Format:

  • 2-hour live sessions each week
  • Full curriculum and playback recordings available for review anytime
  • Knowledge checks to consolidate learning
  • Guest speakers on every module (to be announced)

The only live course created by researchers from King’s College London and the University of Cambridge dedicated to female-specific psychedelic science.
