Research
At Hystelica, we are dedicated to research advancing knowledge on women’s biology and psychedelics.
Current Hystelica Studies of Women’s Psychedelic Use
-
Impact of Microdosing Psychedelic Substances on Menopausal Symptoms
A naturalistic observational 12-week study on microdosing of classical psychedelics for treatment indications and outcomes in menopausal women.
-
Global Survey of Female Psychedelic Use
Hystelica's first survey aiming to investigate impact patterns in female psychedelic use together with King's College London.
Recruitment is now closed, and the data is being processed.
-
Survey of perspectives of women at psychedelic retreats
We are currently collaborating with Beckley Retreats to assess how safe and comfortable female attendees on their retreats feel before, during and after a stay with them.
Other research opportunities
-
Psychedelic Ceremony Survey
Are you planning to participate in a psychedelic retreat, ceremony, or guided session involving the use of a psychedelic substance? Sign up for the Ceremony Study below.
-
Microdosing and the Menstrual Cycle
Are you of menstruating age and planning to microdose psychedelics? The university of Maastricht is now recruiting for this new study, through the link below.
-
Microdosing for PMDD
Are you experiencing symptoms of PMDD and have considered microdosing psychedelic substances? Mom’s on mushrooms have launched a citizen science initiative and research to investigate the effects.
Our Research
An extensive scoping review is being conducted to help us understand the current available data for gender difference in psychedelic use.
We have initial surveys that will be distributed to a larger sample of women who have experience with psychedelics. We will use this research to identify trends and patterns, and form evidence-backed hypotheses for the experiences of female psychedelic users.
We are engaging academic thought leaders to explore the therapeutic potential of psychedelics for women specific disorders.
We are looking to partner with ongoing clinical and observational trials to include female specific data points that will allow us to untangle how these substances may be affecting the bodies of women, or how their biology may be affecting their experiences with psychedelics.
Expected outcomes
A better understanding of the unique needs and experiences of women in the psychedelics space.
Identification of potential female-specific therapeutic applications for psychedelics.
Identifying potential gender-based disparities in the use and effects of psychedelics.
Development of evidence-based recommendations for how best to support and empower female consumers of psychedelics.
Support our Female-Specific Psychedelic Research
Your donation to Hystelica fuels ground-breaking research, education and discussion on the effects of psychedelics specifically on women.
Help us optimise women's psychedelic experiences and inspire female-specific treatments.
